The complaint, filed in U.S. court on behalf of the Mexican government, makes the case for arresting Bruce Beresford-Redman in his wife Monica's death based on interviews, e-mail records, hotel logs and more.
Among the allegations contained in the report:
• That Monica learned about six weeks before she was killed that Beresford-Redman had been having an affair, and that he admitted to the affair.
• That he subsequently proposed a family trip to Cancun, and she accepted, but that they continued to argue about the affair – and that while in Cancun, Monica found evidence that Beresford-Redman was still in contact with his mistress.
• That two English teenagers staying in the room below the Beresford-Redmans' were awakened at around 6 a.m. on April 5 by "screams, crying for help and extremely loud banging from the room above [theirs] ... It sounded like a woman in extreme distress."
• That Beresford-Redman later told hotel staff that the noises were from a fight they were having about the behavior of their children – but that he subsequently told investigators they were from a game they were playing with their 3-year-old son.
• That Beresford-Redman told hotel staff not to enter the room all day on April 5.
• That on April 6, a key card was used to open the room's door at last nine times between midnight and 7 a.m., including at least four times between 4 a.m. and 4:15 a.m. – and that Beresford-Redman reported his wife missing at 7 a.m.
• That Monica's body was found on April 8 in a sewage tank on the hotel grounds. An autopsy found she died by asphyxia by suffocation, and that she had bruising on her face and a blunt head wound.
• That a forensic expert found stains in the couple's room that tested "presumptively positive" for the presence of blood.
• That during an April 7 interview with investigators, Beresford-Redman had scratches or abrasions on both hands, behind his ear, on his left shin and on his right ankle, which he said happened when he was climbing a slippery wall and swimming earlier on the vacation.
• That a friend of Beresford-Redman's spoke to him by phone on April 7, and said he sounded as if he were reading from script, with no emotion.
Beresford-Redman was arrested at his home Tuesday in Los Angeles and is expected at a hearing on Wednesday.
