Erin Andrews Throws a Football Party
When a football game is underway, you'll more likely find Erin Andrews, 32, working the sidelines than parked at home in front of a big screen. But on days off, the ESPN college sports reporter gets geared up to gather around the TV in her Atlanta home for a football-filled afternoon with pals. "All of my friends are sports fans, and if they aren't, they have to act like they are. You're not allowed to have extraneous talking!" says Andrews, who serves the same chicken wings that her family (dad Steve, mom Paula and little sis Kendra, a dancer who appeared in Step Up 3D) ate together on game days growing up. Aside from recipes, Andrews also adopted some sports superstitions from her parents. "If a team is doing badly, Erin does a full wardrobe change," says Kendra. Adds Andrews: "I got it from Dad. Even my dog changes her shirt!"
Mom's Chicken Wings
2½ lbs. chicken wingettes
1/3 cup white vinegar
½ cup brown sugar
¾ cup pineapple juice
1 tbsp. soy sauce
¾ cup ketchup
1 tsp. mustard
2 cups cooked white or brown rice
1. Broil wings until browned, about 10 minutes per side.
2. Meanwhile, in a large pot combine vinegar, brown sugar, pineapple juice, soy sauce, ketchup and mustard. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved. Add wings and simmer, covered, until wings are tender, about 10 minutes. Serve with rice.
