"I just really need time to decide if I really want to go through with it or if I want to try and work it out," she told the attorney. "I want it to be a wake-up call for Gregg. I want Gregg to wake up and say, 'Oh my god. This fool really went and did that and I really need to make a change.' "
While she seemed to be ready to end her marriage and even said she told Gregg she "filed," there was still more.
At her new job at a local news channel, NeNe discovered that Gregg told an online radio host that he had given her $300,000 to help launch her career as a reality star. "The fame got to her head," he said. "I'm asking for every dime of it back."
Shocked, NeNe told her new coworkers, "Sometimes I feel like I have slept with the enemy."
When she confronted Gregg later, he told her that he spoke to the radio host but didn't know he was doing an interview and that the $300,000 figure was an exaggeration.
"You and I had had an argument. I was venting to what I perceived as a friend," Gregg said. "Who ever thought he would put it on the radio?"
But that didn't matter to NeNe. "I stood by you when you have done me wrong as your wife but you want to make other people think that I have done you wrong. I have never done you wrong," she screamed in anger. "We've lost loyalty and trust."
