The service will be open to the public, a family spokesman tells PEOPLE, and will take place at the Edenton Street United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m.
The church is the same one where the funeral for Edwards's son Wade was held when he died. Edwards will be buried beside her son in the nearby Oakwood Cemetery.
In the wake of her passing after a long struggle, family and friends have launched elizabeth-edwards.org, where people can leave stories, share their thoughts, and find out more information about arrangements as details are made available.
