Jennifer Lopez is used to the spotlight – and now she's ready to share it with the new crop of American Idol contestants.
"It takes a lot of guts to come out here and do this," the singer-turned-judge tells hopefuls in a just-released promo of the show. "We know this. We've been in your position. We understand how you feel. Have fun and believe in your destiny. Just do your thing, okay?"
The FOX talent search, which returns in January, added Lopez and rocker Steven Tyler after Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi left the show. Randy Jackson will return for the show's 10th season, taking Cowell's seat on the end of the judges' panel.
As the promo, which promises a "whole new attitude" for the show, continues, Lopez is seen telling a presumably talented contestant, "You're obviously capable of doing anything," and another one whose knees are shaking, "that's okay, baby, 'cause I liked you. There's no reason for you to be shaking. We want you to be great."
