The Australian model and her husband Orlando Bloom reportedly welcomed a son weighing in at nearly 10 lbs. late last week in Los Angeles, and buzz from her home country is going strong about the little boy.
The private couple is staying mum and reps have not commented about whether or not the pair have welcomed a child, but Kerr’s grandmother, speaking through a friend, reportedly told Australia's The Daily Telegraph that Kerr and her new baby are doing "very well."
The mayor of her hometown even sent his congratulations. "Everyone is really excited," Mayor Adam Marshall, of Gunnedah, New South Wales, told the media. "She still has strong family links here and we are very proud of her. We would like to see Miranda, Orlando and the new [baby] in Gunnedah."
At seven months pregnant, a nude Kerr, 27, showed off her baby bump in W magazine's December issue.
Kerr also spoke recently of her expectations for motherhood. "Every mother I've spoken to has said you cannot explain the profound feeling of love that comes over you as soon as the baby is born," she said in the January issue of Australian Vogue. "I'm really looking forward to that moment.”
Kerr and Bloom, 33, have been together since 2007 and married quietly in July 2010.
