Gabe Okoye and Brittany Matyi on Million Dollar Money Drop
When Gabe Okoye and Brittany Mayti competed on the Dec. 20 premiere of Fox's Million Dollar Money Drop, they lost $800,000 when they answered a question about Post-it Notes. The duo bet that amount that the popular office supply was sold in stores before the Sony Walkman and the Macintosh computer. The couple's answer was deemed incorrect by the show, which claimed the Walkman hit shelves in 1979 and that Post-Its debuted in 1980.
But the game show has owned up to making an error: Executive producer Jeff Apploff admitted to CNN that Post-Its were "originally tested for sale" in 1977. Okoye and Mayti are now faced with another tough question: The show has invited the couple to return for a second shot at the $1 million prize.
But Okoye and Mayti are hesitant. "The show is in the business of asking people questions," Okoye tells CNN. "I really trusted them to have their I's dotted and T's crossed."
