"I'm glad to hear David is going into rehab," Arquette's Scream 4 director, Wes Craven, told Entertainment Weekly Monday. "He was in a lot of pain, so it's good that he's getting some help."
Craven, who calls Cox, 46, and Arquette, "professional," says any tension between the couple was not obvious during filming of the latest Scream, which stars both of them.
"Frankly, none of us knew anything was going on [during filming]," Craven says. "I don't know what their problems are, but it's not that they hate each other – that's for sure. It's something else."
Scream 4 is due out in theaters on April 15.
