Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola, left, and Deena Nicole Cortese
"You never get a second chance to make a first impression."
Newbie Deena Nicole Cortese
proved that proverb in true Jersey Shore
style on the show's season 3 premiere Thursday night.
Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi invited her friend to spend the summer in the Seaside Heights, N.J., house, where the Jersey Shore
phenomenon began – duck phone included!
Anxious to "blow the speakers" off the house, Deena, who measures up to Snooki in both stature and skin tone, seemed to follow in her friend's season 1 footsteps by drinking too much on the first night. But instead of passing out, Deena both thrilled and offended her new roommates.
After hitting on Vinny – who is still, apparently, the object of Snooki's affections
– Deena lured Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino into her room by asking him to help her look for a hat. There, she dropped her bikini bottoms and gave The Situation a full-frontal view.
"Deena is awkwardly cute," The Situation said, while considering his options. In the end, he decided not to "get situated" with the new roommate. "I had to pull the eject button," he said.
After sharing the story with resident couple Ronnie Magro and Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola (who were oddly settled in their upstairs bedroom – the only one with three beds), Deena showed up to get The Situation to party on.
When Sammi, who had admitted an aversion to more "meatballs" in the house, laughed at their new costar, Deena dropped more than her bikini bottoms by calling her the C-word.
At first, Ronnie and Sammi let it slide. But when they heard Deena downstairs shouting about them in a drunken tirade to the other roommates, Ronnie and Sammi headed downstairs to confront Deena and demand respect, putting the show's bleep machine into overdrive.
"Listen, b––, you don't f––ing know me," Ronnie said. "You're in my f––ing house. You just walked through the door. You earn respect in this f––ing house, you don't just f––ing get it."
Then Snooki got in on the action, yelling at Sammi and calling her a b––. And when Jenni "JWoww" Farley joined, it was, as Sammi predicted, three against one in a kitchen brawl that ended in fisticuffs.
