Best Night of My Life |

REVIEWED BY IVORY JEFF CLINTON

R&B

Having scored his biggest hit with the hip-hop/techno hybrid "Blame It" in 2009, Foxx returns to that formula on much of this solid set. The Oscar winner is an adept party-starter on standouts such as "Living Better Now" and "Freak." Even better are the milder moments including the synth-laced ballads "Gorgeous" and "Fall for Your Type," featuring Drake. His emotive tenor is best on slow jams such as "Rejoice," the Prince-esque highlight. And while the club-hopping, bottle-popping themes of the uptempo tracks grow a bit tiresome, Best Night is a memorable experience overall.
