She's already tackled Dancing with the Stars, but Cloris Leachman has another reality competition in her sights – American Idol.
When her manager (who is also her son) asked the veteran actress what she wanted to do after her stint on DWTS, "My mouth said American Idol," Leachman told PEOPLE recently while promoting her Fox sitcom Raising Hope.
But Leachman, 84, was stunned to realize that she's too old to compete on the show. Idol contestants have to be between the ages of 15 and 28.
Leachman may not be giving up so easily. "My son suggested we hire [famed lawyer] Gloria Allred to represent me," she joked, "and we'll sue them."
Leachman, whose career began in the late 1940s, said she can carry a tune, but even ability isn't even the main consideration. "Bad or good, I'd be singing," she said. "I think they should use me."
