EDIE BRICKELL
ON LEAVING THE SPOTLIGHT
I wanted to be at home with my three kids [with husband Paul Simon]. Now they're older and ignore me, so I thought, I'll put some records out.
ON FINDING FAME WITH 1988's "WHAT I AM"
I felt I didn't deserve it, but I was hurt by being labeled a one-hit-wonder. A loving husband and kids filled those pockets of insecurity.
ON PREVIEWING HER MUSIC
I'd be too embarrassed to say to my family, "Hey, listen to this!" I think to myself, I gotta get it right; then down the line if they want to hear it, I'll play it for them.
ON HER IPOD
It's eclectic. It can shuffle from Debussy to Audioslave. That's a pretty nice jolt!
