The actor is set to star in the film version of World War Z, Max Brooks's 2006 novel that details first-person accounts of a "zombie war" that ravages the world. (Author-screenwriter Brooks is the son of Mel Brooks and the late Anne Bancroft.) Pitt's production company, Plan B, first secured the rights to World War Z in 2007, after a bidding war with Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way company.
"I'm glad they took their time, and are trying to make the best zombie movie they can," Brooks told MTV.com
Mireille Enos from AMC's The Killing was most recently cast to play Pitt's wife, and World War Z is slated to hit cineplexes (and your brains) next summer.
