The actor's wife Erin delivered daughter Mia Loren Ziering at 10:09 p.m. Monday in Los Angeles, PEOPLE confirms. Weighing in at 7 lbs., 6 oz., the baby girl's name begins with 'M' in honor of Ian's late mother Micki, a source tells PEOPLE.
"Well, it's official, I'm a dad!," the former Beverly Hills, 90210 star, 47, wrote on his Facebook page.
"As I sit holding Mia, Erin sleeps the most beautiful sleep. My thoughts race with visions of a brighter future, only made possible by what happens today... or, last night! God bless us all."
The couple, who wed in May 2010, announced the pregnancy in October and celebrated with a baby shower last month.
And, now that Ziering is a proud father, he says, "more than ever am I worried about the mess in this world. Please, all the bulls--- has to stop. I can't stand what the oil and coal companies are doing to us and what they are going to be doing to Mia. Hey oil and coal companies, I have four words for you, Hydrogen, Electricity, Natural Gas. Reinvent yourselves. For the sake of all of our kids."
