Cheryl Cole Will Be a Judge on The X Factor
Simon Cowell has enlisted British singer Cheryl Cole for the American version of The X Factor, set to premiere this fall.
Cole, who co-hosted the show in England for the past three years, will be joining Cowell and former Def Jam president L.A. Reid at the judges' table. The fourth judge has been rumored to be Paula Abdul, but has yet to be officially announced.
"I'm thrilled for Cheryl," Cowell said in a statement released by FOX. "She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with."
"She is also a complete brat," added the prickly Brit. "Most importantly – this girl can spot talent."
And Cole, who is in the group Girls Aloud, is excited about her new role, as well.
"I just can't decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me," she says in a statement. He's tried to beat me for three years in the U.K., and hasn't even come close."
"His ego must be so bruised," she says. "America is gonna love this."
The anticipated talent show has previously named former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger as its host.
