Romeo, the latest contestant eliminated on Dancing with the Stars, may have told the audience he was "surprised" about his dismissal at the end of Tuesday's show but it seems someone very close to him was not.
"My dad called me at six o'clock this morning," Romeo, 21, told reporters Tuesday night. "I was expecting to sleep until at least 10. He called me and gave me a speech about how proud of me he is no matter what the outcome of tonight is."
The phone call had Romeo wondering if his dad knew something he didn't. "[He said], 'You're a winner. Nobody expected you to come this far,' " Romeo said. "And I was like, 'Do you know that I'm going home or something?' I was like, 'Dad, save your speech for a few more weeks from now.' "
Romeo's dad, Percy Miller (also known as rapper Master P), competed on Dancing, but he didn't last nearly as long as his son did on the show.
"He had some inspirational words [for me]," Romeo says. "I really did come a long way. I laid everything out there."
But in the end, it was his dance partner Chelsie Hightower who really helped him get so far in the competition.
"Chelsie definitely made me want to become a winner," Romeo said.
They also became friends: "We had a lot of fun. We became really close," Hightower added. "It's going to be weird not seeing him."
