Since his infidelity scandal in 2009, Tiger Woods' return to golf has been marred by problems.
On Thursday, Woods withdrew from the Players Championship after only nine holes due to a knee injury.
"The knee acted up and then the Achilles followed after that, and then the calf started cramping up. Everything started getting tight, so it's just a whole chain reaction." Woods told the PGA Tour's website.
This was the first time the golfer had returned to competition since suffering knee and Achilles injuries during the Masters at Augusta last month. Woods said he was feeling better, but grimaced on several shots and was having a hard time walking during the first round of the Players competition.
Woods pulled out of the same tournament last year in the final round due to a neck injury.
