Presenting two awards – for best performance by an actor in a leading role in a play and that for actor in a leading role in a musical – the Welsh actress, 41, made her first public appearance since announcing her struggle with bipolar disorder in April.
Dressed in a sparkling red gown that revealed her terrific figure, Zeta-Jones handed Tonys to winners Mark Rylance for the play Jerusalem and Norbert Leo Butz for the musical Catch Me If You Can.
It's been a challenging year for Zeta-Jones, who aside from seeking mental health treatment also stood by her husband Michael Douglas as he battled throat cancer.
She has since returned to work on the movie Playing the Field and will soon show off her singing chops in the film version of the musical Rock of Ages.
Zeta-Jones, an Oscar winner for the 2002 movie musical Chicago, won a Tony last year for her role in the Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music.
