Her father may no longer be in office, but former President George W. Bush is still issuing executive orders – for grandchildren.

"I don't have any children. I just have a cat, to my parents' dismay," former First Daughter Jenna Bush Hager said at Thursday's Wonderopolis launch. "My dad saw my husband's boss at a conference, and he said to stop paying my husband until we produce children."

The NBC correspondent, 29, and her husband Henry Hager are keeping busy with their careers and settling into New York City with their cat, Bernadette.

They've also been exploring their new hometown by bike, Hager said, riding along the Hudson River or visitng friends in Brooklyn.

"We just try to spend as much time together as possible when we're both home, even little things," the former teacher told PEOPLE. "We had a UNICEF event this week, but before we went, we went for a walk up the West Side Highway just to catch up. I think the little moments are what's most important."

An Anniversary Surprise

The couple celebrated their third anniversary in May, and although Hager was out of town that day, "Henry took me on a surprise trip, which was really sweet," Hager said. Their destination: Turks and Caicos. "It was our first trip just the two of us since our honeymoon."

Her kept their spot a top secret. "Even when I was on the plane, he wouldn't let me know where we were going," she said. "Of course, then they said it over the loudspeaker and I figured it out."

Moving to New York has also brought Hager closer to her twin sister Barbara Bush, who lives only one subway stop away. The two often order pizza together at Jenna's apartment or else go out to dinner.

"We're both eaters, so Barbara and I do that a lot," she said. "Of course, because we get up so early, we go at like 5:30. We're the 'grandma special' twins. It's like us and 80-year-olds and small kids."

Because the two "work incessantly," Hager also said their schedules don't always mesh, but the twins are happy to serve as each other's cat sitter.

"The good thing is, we both have cats, and so I'm the cat sitter for her cat," Hager said. "The bad thing is, I end up traveling so much that my husband is usually the cat sitter for both cats. He's like, 'If I have to watch any more cats …' "
