Khloé Kardashian Has Great 'Maternal Instincts,' Says Lamar Odom

Khloé Kardashian is going to be a wonderful mother, says husband Lamar Odom. And he should know: He's her first child!

"She takes care of me, and I'm a pretty big baby," the 6-foot-10 Los Angeles Lakers star told PEOPLE Friday at his wife's 27th birthday party at Las Vegas's Chateau Nightclub.

It's no secret the couple want to have children, and Odom said Kardashian's "maternal instincts" will come in handy.

"It's her natural instinct," he said. "She used to take care of her two younger sisters. She's gonna be great. I can't wait until the day when we can share that moment when she gives birth to our child."

Flanked by sister Kim and her fiance Kris Humphries, as well as her brother Rob, Khloe was celebrating early – her birthday is actually next Monday. This week, she and Odom are continuing the birthday celebration at a "tropical place."

"We're just excited to have to downtime, some family time this summer," Khloé said.

Of course, the summer could be highlighted by her sister's wedding, though no date has been confirmed. But if Kim is looking for advice on wedding planning, don't look to Odom.

"My grandmother told me if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans," he said. "It's all about being happy."
