Countless New Yorkers rejoiced on Friday when news broke that the state had legalized gay marriage.
Among the revelers: Neil Patrick Harris.
"It PASSED!" he Tweeted Friday night. "Marriage equality in NY!! Yes!! Progress!! Thank you everyone who worked so hard on this!! A historic night!!" What's more, on Saturday, the actor, 38, added that he and his longtime partner, David Burtka, would love to tie the knot themselves.
"David and I did propose to each other, but over five years ago!" wrote Harris. "We've been wearing engagement rings for ages, waiting for an available date."
In December, the actor told PEOPLE of his hopes to wed.
"The callus is hurting on my right hand," he joked, rubbing the ring on his right ring finger. Then, gesturing to his left hand, he added, "It'd be nice to move the ring over here someday."
Harris and Burtka are parents to 8-month-old fraternal twins Harper Grace and Gideon Scott, born via surrogate.
"I'd sure love to get married," the actor added Friday. "Please, NY Senate, vote in favor of marriage equality today. My family would really appreciate it."
