America's favorite serial killer is back.
When the Emmy-nominated
returns to Showtime Oct. 2 for its sixth season, Michael C. Hall's bloodthirsty character – who successfully killed off all Lumen's torturers in season 5 – will be focused on his son Harrison, and whether he will grow up to be a killer like his dad.
Hall told the crowd at Comic-Con in San Diego that this is where religion will enter the picture. (The season 6 trailer even features Depeche Mode's iconic song "Personal Jesus.")
"His son is only going to get older and more in need of guidance, and Dexter feels ill-equipped to provide that," Hall said, reports EW.com
. "As a result, he is motivated to find ways to do that, including giving him spiritual grounding ... something that Dexter hasn't cared about."
The show, which has features guest stars including John Lithgow and Julia Stiles, will also welcome Mos Def and Colin Hanks in its new season.
