Newlywed Nick Lachey is already being diligent about remembering that all-important anniversary date.
"It's actually two weeks today, our anniversary," he told PEOPLE on Saturday of his July 15 nuptials. "Boy, I should get some flowers on the way home!"
Settling in to married life with Vanessa Minnillo has been an easy transition, he reports. "It doesn't feel any different, which I think is a great thing – I think that means it was good to begin with," says the singer, 37. "We're just very comfortable and happy in our life together, so now we are back to work and back to the routine."
For Lachey, that means promoting the third season of The Sing-Off, which premieres Sept. 19, but he's just as excited about his bride's new gig.
"I am begging to go on that thing," he says of the hit game show Wipeout which Minnillo, 30, will co-host. "I've asked her, 'When is friends and family day?' When they get into production on that in the fall, I hope to go out there and take a turn at it and get a little muddy."
But Lachey won't be dragging his non-singing wife out on the Sing-Off stage. "She is frequently backstage and very supportive and she's a great hosting resource for me," he says of Minnillo. "She's always there when I need her [but] on-stage is probably not the best fit for her on this show!"
While his summer vacation has ended ("It was a blessing to be able to relax on my honeymoon," he says), Lachey adds that he's excited to get back to work, both on his show and in the studio. "Singing," he says, "has always been my love."
