When it came time to celebrate his 50th birthday last Thursday, the president once again proved he's a true Capitol Hill mover and shaker.
Joined by wife Michelle Obama and his two daughters, Malia, 13, and Sasha, 10, economic woes couldn't keep the president from marking the milestone with a White House dance party.
A mash-up of Motown and modern radio hits, including songs by The Temptations, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé and the Black Eyed Peas, were spun by DJ Cassidy, as stars such as Tom Hanks, his wife, Rita Wilson, Charles Barkley, Herbie Hancock, Jay-Z and Chris Rock helped the Obamas celebrate.
Also making a special appearance: Stevie Wonder, who gave Obama a surprise serenade, which included hits like "Sign, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours." Hancock also performed.
The festivities ended at about midnight – but not before the Obama girls led partygoers through the "Electric Slide" and the Dougie dance routine (which Barkley helped Hanks perfect).
Earlier in the night, guests were treated to a BBQ dinner, where they toasted and sang "Happy Birthday" to the president.
