Nine years ago, when daughter Ruth was 16, Eric Clapton surprised
the 20 guests at her baptism when the guitar icon had the vicar turn around and, after the baptism, marry him and his girlfriend Melia McEnery.
This time, it was Ruth's turn to surprise some assembled guests – about 150 of them.
For her wedding last Saturday, she was not only walked down the aisle of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Ripley, England, by her dad, but she also hired him as her wedding singer for the reception at his Surrey mansion, reports the Daily Mail
– which says the rock star, 66, sang for an hour.
The bride, a hairdresser, married Dean Bartlett, an architecture student. Ruth's mother is former record executive Yve Kelly, with whom Clapton had a year-long relationship.
And, clearly, Ruth inherited a musical gene or two.
As one guest told the newspaper about the wedding party: "Ruth sang 'Use Somebody,' by the Kings of Leon
, as her special surprise for Dean, with Clapton backing her. She's got a good voice and has sung with her father before."
Added another: "It was a delightful family wedding and with Clapton playing at the reception, you couldn't have found a better wedding singer anywhere in the world."
