Now new reports are circulating that the couple, who began dating in May 2010, has split (again). Is this the final strike out for these two?
According to a source close to the couple, it may be. "They are broken up right now," the source tells PEOPLE. "They are still very close. There was always a certain magic between them."
Calling the decision mutual, the source says: "They're still close friends and will continue to be close friends. They have considerable respect for each other."
Another source in Miami confirms they broke up, but knows Rodriguez, 36, well and says they since got back together.
The Yankee slugger is currently in Seattle with his team, and Diaz, 39, has been shooting What to Expect When You're Expecting in Atlanta. They were last together over Labor Day weekend in New York and, prior to that, spotted celebrating his birthday in Miami Beach.
Diaz, for what it's worth, was also recently seen out to dinner with ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake. The New York Post's Page Six is reporting that "it was not believed to be romantic." Timberlake has also been spending time with another former flame, Jessica Biel, in Toronto – sources tell PEOPLE they've always remained friendly.
