knows what Giuliana Rancic is going through, and says she'll be there if the E! host – who has breast cancer – ever wants to talk.
"I know what that phone call sounds like and feels like," Applegate, 39, herself a breast-cancer survivor, tells E! Online.
"I hope she knows that I'm here if she wants to ever talk about it."
Still, Applegate, who was declared cancer-free after a double mastectomy in 2008
, realizes the sensitive nature of the topic, and wouldn't presume to give unsolicited advice.
"I don't want to publicly say anything to her about it, because it's a private matter," the Up All Night
star says. "But I know this whole journey. And so, if she needs me, I'm here."
Rancic, 36, was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. She is due to have a lumpectomy this week, followed by radiation therapy.
