In the beginning it was hard, because you have to be sexy. Rob and I only mess around during rehearsals, so it was really difficult to take it seriously. I kept telling him he has to be sexy, and every time I'd say it, he'd roll his eyes. He doesn't think of himself as being sexy, and on top of that, he had to be sexy with me.
But he was able to pull it off. Whenever we're in rehearsals, he never really goes all out until the actual show. He surprises me every time.
I'm happy we've come this far. I really didn't think we would. Rob's come such a long way. Especially now that we're second on the leaderboard, it's amazing and I'm so proud of him. He's becoming really competitive now and he really wants to do well.
He's ConfidentHe knows he's going to have to step it up even more. When it comes to his confidence, I think he's there. Of course he could be more confident, but I think now he needs to really work on the quality of his dancing.
J.R. and Ricki have been on the top of the leaderboard, so I think it will be interesting to see who ends up in that No. 3 position in the finals. It could be anyone from Rob to David to someone else. You just never know.
This week is Broadway week. Rob loves it because he gets to be himself. He can ham it up like he loves to do. It's not that he's making fun of it – he just loves our song. It's a good change from last week. I love Broadway. I think Rob likes it. I mean, at the end of the day, I don't think he's ever seen a Broadway show because he's seen it in L.A. and that doesn't count, but he's been watching movie musicals, so he's super in touch with how cheesy he's going to have to be.
We're doing a cha cha, so it's still sexy, but we're dancing to a very recognizable song from one of the shows that's very popular right now, so that puts him at ease. With the rumba, he wasn't feeling it the first couple of days. He was already liking this dance by the second day.
