Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but Michelle Williams
and her daughter, Matilda, have found a different kind of BFF: one with four legs.
The My Week with Marilyn
star tells Ellen DeGeneres in Friday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show
that Matilda, who turns 6 on Oct. 28, has fallen in love with the family's new dog.
"We just got a puppy, so she's very into the puppy," Williams said.
As was DeGeneres, who presented Williams with a gift: a doghouse in the shape of a brownstone, the kind of housing found in Brooklyn, where Williams resides.
The "little, sort-of spaniel-type thing" has been named Lucky by Matilda, who was debating other monikers that her mother found questionable.
"Her first ideas were – they sounded like stripper names," Williams said. "She wanted something like Crystal, Gem or Diamond. At first, I was going to be a controlling Mom ... Then I was like, 'You know what? Let her have it.' But then she finally settled on Lucky, which made me feel very lucky."
