When Carrie Ann said our dance was a "show-stopper," I think I blacked out. I took her comments very seriously last week and I am so glad I gave her the personality and dance content that she wanted.
For me, this week was all about progress. I mean, HELLO PEOPLE, I did a handstand into Tristan's face! (He actually had the hard part because he had to catch my feet and turn it into a stunt!) First try in rehearsals, he dropped me on my head and pulled my pants off. Good times! I am still speechless that we pulled it off and got our first 9 of the season all in the same night!
Another big thrill of the week – well, of my life! – was meeting Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth and watching her perform. She wants to meet the twins! I am still trying to figure out how that big, big voice emerges from such a tiny person! I was stunned when Kristin said I'm one of her favorites – the petite blonde! I think I blacked out ... again.
Tuesday night we said goodbye to Chaz. I have been in awe of his strength, courage and sheer determination throughout this competition. I know he has inspired millions by taking this journey. But, more than anything, I will miss a dear friend I know I'll have for a lifetime. Chaz, walk slow and hurry back!
I want to say a BIG thank you to the viewers once again. It has been a long and sometimes rocky road that started with Cochran & Grace – then on to CourtTV and then CNN Headline News (now HLN). I have never felt as much support and encouragement from the viewers as I do now. They are the same people who have cheered me on, sent well wishes when Lucy and I nearly died in childbirth and sent the twins handmade Christmas presents and Easter baskets.
I count my blessings every day, and I can promise you this: I will never stop fighting for you.
Next week, we dance the jive during the Dancing with the Stars Halloween special. We have another group dance to learn, as well. Just as my nerves start kicking in, Tristan reminds me that six weeks ago, I did not know how to dance.
How lucky and blessed am I?
Off to rehearsals after two breakfasts for the twins (turkey dogs on cheese toast, then French toast), two outfit changes and jelly sandwiches en route to play school!
Tango and jive this week. HELP!!!!!!
