Time for politicos to put on their tough skins.
The White House Correspondents' Association has a host for its 98th annual dinner next April 28: Jimmy Kimmel.
"I look forward to being a part of the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner," the host of the ABC late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!
said in a statement. "I love dinner."
Traditionally a star-studded event
attended by the President and First Lady, other senior government officials and members of the press corps – as well as TV and movie celebrities
– the dinner features a barrage of zingers aimed at those who run the country.
And it's all for a good cause. Proceeds from the dinner go toward scholarships and awards aimed at supporting aspiring journalists and recognizing excellence in the profession.
"Jimmy's humor is sophisticated and edgy while appealing to a wide audience," said Reuters journalist Caren Bohan, president of the White House Correspondents' Association. "We are thrilled that Jimmy has accepted our invitation to be the featured comedian at our annual dinner."
