Lauren Scruggs Smiles for First Time After Propeller Accident
"Such a miracle!" says an update Saturday on her CaringBridge.org site.
"She walked up and down the hall 3 times today with the help of a physical therapist," says the site. "The doctors are all very pleased with her progress."
The 23-year-old lost her left hand and underwent several emergency surgeries on her face and shoulder after she accidentally walked into a spinning airplane propeller in Texas.
Despite the early encouraging signs of progress, her family spokesperson tells PEOPLE she still faces a long recovery period.
