"I felt bloated and big," says Barkley, who has lost 27 lbs. after 10 weeks on the program, which on Tuesday announced a new campaign targeted to the male population and called "Lose Like a Man." In all Barkley lost 41 lbs total – getting from 350 to 336 on his own, then joining the program.
After weeding out junk foods like pizza and cookies – and working in a breakfast of yogurt or oatmeal – the 6'6" former pro athlete says, "Now I've got more energy!"
The Alabama native admits he suffered a bit of an aversion to most vegetables – well, unless you count potatoes and corn (which are starches). "I thought vegetables were all nasty! Weight Watchers has me eating cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and asparagus, and I really, really like it."
Barkley, who used to feel "tired and sluggish" during hour-long workout sessions on the elliptical, adds, "I feel good. My body is starting to look like a person again! I've been fat for a long time."
