Happy New Year!

You know what that means – it's time for a new season of The Biggest Loser. Season 13 premiered on Tuesday, which marked the beginning of my 10th season as host of the show.

In case you missed this week's episode, this season it's teams of two – parents and children, siblings, spouses, grandparents with grandchildren and one set of complete strangers.

Upon arrival to the Ranch, I talked with the contestants about their excuses for not losing weight. Each season contestants come to the Ranch with so much baggage – so many things that stand in their way of getting healthy. But this season we are going to tackle them, each excuse, one by one.

We had another twist for season 13 – the contestants had two hours to work with the trainers before deciding which of them would join Bob's team and which one would join Dolvett's team. This also meant they were going to be competing on separate teams from one another. The contestants all were shocked when I told them the twist and it instantly changed the dynamics of the game. They no longer had their partner to depend on; they had to trust themselves, their trainer and strangers. And so it begins! The emotions are running as high as ever ... and it's "Bob vs. Dolvett" in a competition to save lives!

I'm lucky enough to have worked out with both Bob and Dolvett and let me tell you, they're both I-N-T-E-N-S-E.

As you know if you read my blog on alisonsweeney.com, Bob always calls me out in spin class and forces me to go faster and harder than I imagined I could. Dolvett's charming smile and dimples definitely go out the window in the gym – not just for contestants but for me as well. These contestants are going to be pushed harder than they ever imagined, even those of them that are long time fans of the show.

So what do you think of this season's contestants? Do you love that we found Santa (Roy)? What about Nancy having 13 children and 54 grandchildren? Do you have an instant favorite? Were you annoyed by Ben's decision to go home or do you understand his need to be with his family? Were you surprised that Bob lost the first weigh-in?

I'm anxious to hear your thoughts this season. Given comments last season, I know you won't hold back!
