How did rocker James Durbin celebrate his New Year's Eve wedding?
The American Idol alum, 23, (who told PEOPLE the evening was "such a blast!") and his longtime love Heidi Lowe, 31, entered their reception carrying glowing swords, which their 85 guests also waved in the air upon their arrival.
To kick off the ceremony, held in a chapel nestled in a redwood forest in the Santa Cruz Mountains in California, Durbin sang John Mayer's "Gravity" before Lowe joined him at the altar.
At the conclusion of the nuptials, Durbin picked up their 2-year-old son Hunter, who served as ring bearer, and the family walked back up the aisle together.
Durbin and Lowe exchanged unique rings from Kay Jewelers – a chocolate diamond Le Vian sparkler for her, and a stainless steel band inlaid with wood and diamonds for him.
The video also shows the couple, whose son served as ring bearer, cutting their custom wedding cake from The Cake Shoppe by Chefany. It featured replicas of their tattoos – the Journey lyrics "Forever Yours" and "Faithfully" – on layers of carrot and chocolate cake.
The couple honeymooned at a luxury cabin in Yosemite, where they enjoyed "cocoa in the morning and wine at night," says Durbin, and mountain biked near frozen waterfalls.
"This wedding was the perfect way to kick off the New Year. We are looking forward to living happily ever after," the couple told PEOPLE.
Durbin, who kicks off a tour for his new album Memories of a Beautiful Disaster this month, will perform on Conan Thursday night.
