Music's biggest night was already a big night for Adele: She's nominated
in six categories – a career high, and Kanye West
only has her outnumbered
by a single nod.
But the 2012 Grammy Awards
represents another special milestone for the bluesy Brit with the powerhouse voice. Just two months after she underwent throat surgery
for a hemorrhaged vocal chord, Adele will return to the stage for the first time since announcing the cancelation
of her North American tour.
"Ima be, Ima be singing at the Grammys," Adele, who's currently dating
former financier Simon Konecki, Tweeted
Tuesday. "It's been so long I started to forget I was a singer! I can't wait."
The singer, whose tunes about heartbreak and healing
have fueled her fame, calls the Feb. 12 performance "an absolute honor."
"For it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-wracking," she says in a statement
. "But what a way to get back into it all."
Adele is nominated for record of the year, song of the year and best short form music video for "Rolling in the Deep"; album of the year and best pop vocal album for "21"; and best pop solo performance for "Someone Like You."
