Lauren Scruggs Is 'Regaining Her Strength,' Says Mom
"She's taking one day at a time, but she finds it hard to be patient at times," Scruggs's mother, Cheryl, posted Tuesday on Lauren's Caring Bridge website. "She wants to 'sprint' through this ordeal. And frankly we do too."
Though Lauren's recovery may be testing her patience, the 23-year-old has made remarkable strides since the accident. Last month, she took a vacation in Colorado, only a couple of weeks after she was fitted for a prosthetic eye.
"For the most part, it's been a positive week for Lauren," her mother wrote Tuesday. "The sun has been shining! We have had some great talks! There's been lots of laughter, amongst the tears. She is regaining her strength."
Cheryl Scruggs said the family's faith has been "really rocked" in the wake of Lauren's struggles, but that positive attitudes and an overwhelming outpouring of support have helped them pull through.
"Sometimes we have to pinch ourselves as this whole experience feels like a bad dream," writes Cheryl. "But we wake each day to the reality ... it's the way life is now. This is a marathon. And in a marathon, one must pace themselves, and be diligent in training in order to finish the race well. It's the new norm."
"Easy to say, hard to do," she added.
