On the surface, the Twitter account seemed to be jackpot of hidden angst by a daughter of celebrity and privilege, full of graphic, snarky, profanity-laced posts about sex, drugs, cigarettes and partying.

The messages under the Twitter handle @bougepunk would have gone barely noticed had a blog called IvyGate.com not linked them to Brown University student Scout Willis, the daughter of troubled Demi Moore and ex-husband Bruce Willis.

"Scout has shared some insanely graphic accounts of her personal life," claimed the blog, citing such posts as: "Why worry about school? Just take an adderall, make lists, smoke too many cigarettes and voila, panic attacks and straight A's here I come."

Another one read: "I hate capitalism like I hate my parents, but they both serve me so well."

The Twitter page was then quickly taken down, but not before reps for Willis's parents were showered with media calls.

On Thursday, a rep speaking on behalf of Scout, 20, confirmed that she is in fact partly behind the Twitter page, but explained that the posts are all fakes created by Scout and two other students to test a theory.

Says the rep:

"In connection with a class assignment, in which students were asked to create a 'culture jam' or 'hoax,' three students created a satirical and fabricated Twitter account in which everything tweeted was fictional.

"This was done to illustrate how social media is utilized and that in today's social media culture, you can create a significant twitter following based entirely on fabricated lies, and that the more outrageous and controversial the fabricated statement, the more followers you will get.

"Current media interest in the fabricated Twitter school assignment appears to prove that point."
