The hottest topic on Wednesday's live episode of The View
was its co-host Sherri Shepherd's shocking elimination
on Tuesday night's Dancing with the Stars
Wiping away tears that started flowing long into the standing ovation from the studio audience and their shouts of "Sherri! Sherri!," Shepherd listened as View
moderator Whoopi Goldberg said, "You know, we are not happy ... she was robbed."
Shepherd explained that the waterworks were "not a temper tantrum, [but] really tears of joy. I wanted to do this for so long, and to be taken off the ride so soon, it really was devastating."
She also said there were lessons learned from the DWTS
experience. "I learned I have stage fright, and have to get past it," she said. "And I was scared every week, and I learned to dance scared."
Her son, Jeffrey Charles, who accompanied her to she competition every week, "is pretty devastated," she said. "He loved being there. He also doesn't quite understand that they won't be going back."
Pro dancer Val Chmerkovskiy later joined The View
's panel and praised his partner.
"Every moment was incredible for me," he said. "She's a huge star and I'm just a dancer so I really appreciate how kind she was to me. And she's exactly how she seems – that's how she is in real life."
