Elise Testone brought palpable emotion to the American Idol stage Wednesday night – and it was all because of her dog.
The top-seven contestant fought back tears after her live performance of Alicia Keys's "No One."
"On Monday, I found out that my dog is really, really sick and might not make it," she told Ryan Seacrest, choking up.
Earlier in the week, Testone reached
out to her Twitter followers for a little positivity through her difficult time.
"My dog Leon is very sick. I just found out and I'm so sad. Tell me a funny joke!" she wrote.
After Testone's second performance of the night, judge Jennifer Lopez said she'd like to see more of that emotional side.
"When you were out there earlier and they asked you about your dog, and you got a little emotional, it's like you don't like to show emotion too much, and it does comes out when you sing though," she said. "For me, I'd like to see even more of that."
