Except the $200,000 car has been missing since March 2011, after a robber broke into the British Motor Car Distributors dealership in San Francisco and drove away with it, reports the San Francisco Examiner. Since then, the car was only seen on closed-circuit TV, including going over the Golden Gate Bridge.
That is, until last Saturday night, when investigators went to a Port Richmond neighborhood storage unit with a search warrant related to a 17-year-old San Rafael boy, whom witnesses said was linked to an April 13 shooting. (The teen has since been arrested and charged with attempted murder, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest and having a loaded firearm.)
Inside the storage unit, officers found the bright yellow Lamborghini belonging to the Food Network's Guy's Big Bite and NBC's Minute to Win It star, as well as a motorcycle and other items authorities believe were used in the shooting, a SFPD spokesman confirmed to the newspaper.
Fieri, 44, expressed his relief over the discovery, saying in a statement, "I would like to thank the Marin County Sheriff's Office and the Mill Valley Police Department for their hard work and effort in the recovery of my car. I'm glad we can put this behind us, and feel better knowing that justice is being served."
British Motor Car Distributors reportedly declined comment.
