Melissa Gilbert Glad to Exit Dancing with the Stars on 'a High Note'
"This is cake number three," Gilbert, who celebrated her 48th birthday on Tuesday, said when she was presented with a birthday cake on Good Morning America Wednesday morning. "And I'm not dancing anymore, so this is going right to my thighs."
Gilbert, who said she hadn't slept since the results were announced the night before, acknowledged that she and her coach, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, were disappointed about the elimination, but said she was pleased with her performance this week.
"I don't think we were prepared to go," Gilbert told Robin Roberts on GMA. "But it actually is good to go on such a high note."
Gilbert also reported that she's fully bounced back after suffering a concussion on the show last month, and even joked about the situation.
"I feel recovered. How many women do you know that can take Maks out with their head and their chin?" she said.
As for Fegan, who wowed the audience – and his grandmothers – with a foxtrot Monday night, the Disney star says he has no regrets about the competition.
"I had a great time," he said GMA. "I don't really know what I would do differently."
Concurred his dancing partner, Chelsie Hightower: "It's been a really, really great season. ... He was such a joy to work with. It's sad to end it, but we look back with fond memories."
