Derek Hough Dances with His Mom for Mother's Day

Maria Menounos is Derek Hough's leading lady in the ballroom on Dancing with the Stars, but outside of the competition, his mom Marianne is forever his favorite dance partner.

"My mother is an incredibly gifted artist with a creative mind," Hough, 26, says on his website with a link to a video in a post titled, "Dancing with My Mom for Mother's Day!"

"She introduced me to the arts and was always so encouraging," Hough continues. "Even if I did something terrible, she would praise it and boost my confidence when I was a kid. She drove me to drum lessons, karate and dragged me to dance."

In the video – shot at The Grove in Los Angeles next door to where Hough and his castmates perform on DWTS – the dance pro and his mom twirl around and show off their moves for folks in the background who are watching and filming.

In typical gentleman form, Hough takes lead in the mini performance, which ends with a loud cheer from his pals.
