Let the trash talking begin!

The fifth season of The Real Housewives of New York City premieres Monday night on Bravo. But the show's three surviving cast members – Ramona Singer, LuAnn DeLesseps and Sonja Morgan – already have some choice words for newcomers Heather Thomson, Carole Radziwill and Aviva Drescher in this interview with PEOPLE.

Singer offers the most pointed critiques, revealing that after spending time with one of the new ladies in particular, she just wants to "smack her face." Another, Singer says, seemed normal at first but then "all of a sudden she got possessed."

The veterans also have some kind words to say about the rookies, with DeLesseps pointing out that it's quite brave of them to be wading into such shark-infested waters.

"I think it took a little while for them to get their feet wet," DeLesseps says, "but it turns out they know how to swim."

Season 5 debuts Monday (9 p.m. ET) on Bravo.
