Six-Year-Old Sends Piggybank Savings to Former NY Giant Brandon Jacobs
Joseph sent a letter to Jacobs and enclosed the savings from his personal piggybank (totaling $3.36) in an effort to help the athlete, who signed with the San Francisco 49ers in March, return to New York.
"When he asked me why you were going to SF I explained that the Giants did not have enough money to keep you," Joseph's mother, Julie, wrote to Jacobs. "Joseph is just learning to read/write so I will help you by translating his letter."
Her son's note reads: "Dear Brandon Jacobs, So you could go to the Giants, here is my money. Love, Joe."
Jacobs, 29, was so touched by the letter that he posted it to his Twitter account and says he plans to take Joseph on a special outing the next time he's in New York.
"I almost cried, I am still trying to hold it in," Jacobs Tweeted after receiving the letter. "I may have to pay him a surprise visit."
"Here's what I am thinking for the kid," he added two days later. "I have a 5 year old, I will go and pick Joe up at his home in jersey and take him and my son 2 chucky cheese."
Until Jacobs makes it back to the East Coast, though, he says he'll use Joseph's note as inspiration as he gets acclimated to his new team and city.
"Little Joe just gave me so much confidence, I feel this season is gonna be a great one," Jacobs Tweeted Thursday. "FYI I am contacting him tomorrow to make some plans."
