Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are taking their romance to new heights – literally.
In Toronto for Sunday night's MuchMusic Video Awards, the couple, who are both due to take the stage, enjoyed a romantic ride in between rehearsals.
Bieber, 18, rented a chopper Saturday to take his girlfriend, 19, over the falls and to Stratford, Ontario, which is home to North America's largest classical repertory theater.
Their sky-high rendezvous was "a relaxing and romantic break from work," a source in Toronto tells PEOPLE of the couple, whose relationship was revealed when they were caught kissing last January. "They were very excited."
Bieber fetched Gomez at the Toronto airport Friday when she flew in from Los Angeles. The couple were kissing and hugging as they departed via private car.
