Somebody certainly knows how to dress for a swearing-in ceremony!

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton livened up things on Thursday night with some quirky accessories – and a good sense of humor – while she was swearing in Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Michael Hammer.

Surrounded by his family and friends, Clinton joked with Hammer, "Mike, I was in a real dilemma. I have pantsuits in nearly every color – except purple."

Purple is, apparently, Hammer's favorite color – and his wife and kids were appropriately dressed in purple accents for the occasion. Luckily, though, Clinton, who earlier this year was spotted cutting loose and dancing on a trip to Colombia, had a trick (or two) up her sleeve for how to accessorize in his favorite hue.

Out of the blue, Clinton donned purple beads and some wing-tipped purple and green sunglasses, which she dubbed the "piece de resistance."

Later, she removed the colorful accessories for a bit while delivering a personal and heartfelt speech about Hammer – but those glasses were back on in time for the administering of his oath.

Tell us: Is she the coolest Secretary of State ever?
