Katie Holmes Takes Suri to the Art Museum

She's one busy mom on the go.

After a busy Fourth of July holiday that included ice cream and an at-home celebration with her family, Katie Holmes took daughter Suri to the Children's Museum of the Arts in New York on Thursday.

The mother-daughter duo, who moved into a new, three-bedroom home, were matching in pink patterns as they arrived with bodyguards to face waiting photographers.

Later in the day the 6-year-old played "doorman" at Alice's Teacup on New York's Upper East Side. "Suri walked out with a shopping bag and a sparkly fairy wand," an onlooker tells PEOPLE. "She insisted on holding the door for the whole group. Very sweet – so polite."



Holmes, 33, filed for divorce from Tom Cruise last week in a decision sources say blindsided the actor, who spent his 50th birthday at home in Los Angeles with his older children, Connor, 17, and Isabella, 19.
