Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy

is known for telling it like it is – especially when it comes to her personal life.
In this week's PEOPLE, the reality star-turned-talk-show host
reveals the truth about her marriage to Jason Hoppy
, which recently has been rumored to be on the brink
"We've been scared," says Frankel, 41. "The second year of marriage was not easy. We hit bottom, [but] we came out the other side."
After rising to fame on Bravo's Real Housewives of New York City
, Frankel has wrapped the final season of her reality series Bethenny Ever After
, which magnified the couple's troubles this past year.
"I think we have what it takes to make it work," she says. "I don't have a backup plan. It's not like shopping for shoes and getting a new pair. That's not what it's about."
Frankel, who just returned to their new Manhattan apartment after two months in L.A. – where she completed a six-week test run of FOX daytime talk show Bethenny
, which is likely to be picked up for next year – is ready to say goodbye to reality TV and embrace the future as a tell-it-like-it-is talk-show host.
"It's the right thing for me – and for us," she says of her new gig. "I love talking to women about what's going on with them."
In fact, Frankel says, "I'm done with putting my personal life and family on reality television. I went all the way, and I think it may be enough. Enough about me."
Could it be? "I couldn't even imagine it," she says.
What she can
imagine is relaxing with Hoppy, 40, and their daughter, Bryn 2, at a fabulous beach house – where they're about to spend the rest of the summer – with only their own cameras in hand.
"I'm in lockdown," she says with a laugh. "I'm finally ready to become a housewife." A real one, that is.
