The 2010 American Idol winner married model-actress Jonna Walsh on Saturday evening in Camarillo, Calif., in a vintage-themed wedding at Maravilla Gardens.
"She gets me and supports me, and I do the same for her," DeWyze, 26, tells PEOPLE about his bride, who wore a dress by Lili Bridal.
Adds Walsh, "He's my best friend. From the moment I met him I was able to be myself. I'm a total goofball."
Though the couple, who will honeymoon in Bali, are enthusiastic about starting a family, they say adding a new DeWyze to their home can wait.
"For now we are focusing on our careers and being newlyweds," says Walsh. "Though I’m sure our parents would love it."
